Smith College Conference Center

Design For Community.

Reimagining the spatial flow and purpose of the building was essential to adapt it to its new function. By thoughtfully reconfiguring the interior layout, we create flexible spaces that can support a variety of modern uses, while also improving circulation and accessibility.

The building’s facade is transformed to foster a stronger connection with the student body and the surrounding community. Under the new canopy we introduce large openings as a welcoming architectural gesture that encourages interaction, drawing people into the space and softening the boundary between inside and out.

Design For Discovery.

In our design, we carefully considered how built spaces can frame and enhance the experience of nature. New sightlines are introduced through strategic placement of windows, terraces, and outdoor areas, allowing for a more dynamic relationship between the building and its natural environment. These views offer moments of pause and reflection, helping to ground the campus experience in its unique setting.

Designed For Integration.

The design supports an inclusive and accessible environment through ADA-compliant ramps and pathways. Outdoor seating and gathering areas foster a lively atmosphere, while expansive glazing and updated lighting design work together to activate the street presence—creating a campus environment that feels vibrant, energized, and fully integrated with its surroundings.
